The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) yesterday airlifted a male from Chipata to Lusaka for urgent medical treatment.
The patient, who was suffering from multiple health complications including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and severe pneumonia, was initially admitted to Chipata Central Hospital.
According to Dr. Mbinga Mbinga, the hospital's Medical Superintendent, a request for an emergency air evacuation was sent to the Ministry of Health.
Upon receiving authorization, the ZFDS immediately dispatched the aircraft, registration 9J-FDS.
The plane departed from Zuze Air force base in Ndola at 15:21 hours, arriving in Chipata Airport at 16:51 hours to pick up the patient.
The aircraft then flew directly to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA), departing Chipata at 17:25 hours and arriving at 19:10 hours.
The patient was transported to Maina Soko Medical Centre for immediate admission and specialized treatment.
We continue with our mandate and mission to ensure efficient and effective health service delivery for all.
