No 1B at Zuze Airforce Base, Ndola
After seven years of being grounded, 9J - AGC registered aircraft under the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) is back in Service this month. The Aircraft was grounded in 2017 due to pilot error which resulted in the engine overheating and seizure while on a mission distributing medical drugs in Mamba, southern province. Over the period of time other Aircraft components and items expired on calendar time and required an overhaul. In July 2022, newly ushered management made a decision to have the engine of the aircraft overhauled in South Africa and it was returned back into the country on 11th May ,2023.
Minister of Health Hon.Sylvia T. Masebo has expressed happiness with the transformation at the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) into a more responsive medical service. Ms. Masebo commended the management for its effort to ensure the Service was responsive in providing routine medical services to hard-to-reach areas and timely response to aeromedical emergencies. She said this when she made a stopover at ZFDS Head office in the month of August 2023. Read more below...

The Zambia Flying Doctor Service(ZFDS) has in the past two years undergone a huge transformation in its operations and service delivery which has impressed stakeholders , members of the public and the Republican President His Excellency Mr Hakainde Hichilema. ZFDS boasts of offering quality health services while reaching out to more and more patients in hard-to-reach areas of the Country. Elated with the milestone achieved so far by the ZFDS , President Hichilema has thus congratulated the Service and its leadership led by its Chief Executive Officer Dr George Ng'uni. Mr Hichilema also extended his congratulations to members of staff for the collective effort to transform the service.
