The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) team did on the 19th of February pay a courtesy call on District Commissioner Ms. Elida Banda, accompanied by District Medical Director Dr. Lawrence Phiri. Ms. Banda warmly welcomed the team and expressed her appreciation for the vital medical services being offered to her community.
ZFDS Director Medical Services, Dr. Puta Chisanga, outlined the primary and specialised healthcare services provided by ZFDS, which include:
- General Screening,
- Dental services,
- Laboratory services,
- Ophthalmology Services,
- Pharmacy Services,
- Specialized Orthopedic Services.
Dr. Chisanga Puta emphasized that the main objective of the ZFDS team is to work in collaboration with the provincial and district health team in providing emergency response as well as offer specialized orthopedic and trauma services and other routine medical services during the traditional ceremony.
District Commissioner Ms. Elida Banda emphasized the importance of conducting sensitization efforts to alert the community of the services being offered during the ceremony.
Dr. Chisanga added that ZFDS efforts are aimed at supplementing the Government's efforts in providing quality healthcare services to the communities.
The team will be offering the services for seven days, providing much-needed healthcare support to the community during the ceremony and to nearby health centers.
