The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) paid a courtesy call on Chief Mukubowe of Mukubowe Chiefdom in Ngabwe District ahead of their healthcare service rollout in the area.
Chief Mukubowe commended ZFDS for bringing specialized healthcare closer to the people, noting that services such as eye check-ups, dental care, and minor surgeries are a rare opportunity for many residents.
Ngabwe District Health Director Kelvin Mwila emphasized the impact of this outreach, highlighting that ZFDS’ intervention will help bridge the healthcare gap by providing much-needed medical services at seven designated health facilities across the district. Each facility is expected to attend to at least 150 patients or more.
ZFDS team leader Dr. Susiku Lungowe expressed confidence in the program's success, stating the community turnout to be encouraging.
Among the beneficiaries was a 56 year old man from Funkwe Village, who received prescription glasses after years of struggling with an eye condition.
ZFDS remains committed to providing accessible and quality healthcare to remote communities, ensuring that no one is left behind.
