The senior-most Induna of Bwina Village in Mulobezi District ,Western province Mr. Likezo Sitali, has praised the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) and the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) for bringing free healthcare services to his people through a joint outreach program.
Speaking when the medical team paid him a courtesy call, Induna Sitali described the visit as an honor, saying the services had reached his community at the right time.
“It would have been impossible for many of my people to travel the long distances to the district hospital. Your coming is a merit, and we are truly grateful,” he said with joy.
The outreach, conducted at Bwina Rural Health Center, drew hundreds of residents who turned up to access specialist care rarely available in their area.
By the close of the day, the team had seen 263 patients.
The eye team screened 80 patients and dispensed 33 pairs of spectacles, bringing relief to those who had been struggling with poor vision.
The dental team attended to 27 patients, while the general screening team saw 156 patients, offering consultations, diagnoses, and treatment.
To ensure everyone received attention, the joint team worked until 21:00 hours.
The in-charge and staff at Bwina Rural Health Center joined the community in thanking ZFDS and ZAF, expressing hope that such services would return soon.
For the people of Bwina, the visit was more than just a medical program, it was a message of inclusion and care, reminding them that even in the remotest corners of the country, they are not forgotten.
