The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) yesterday 7th September,2025 successfully evacuated a patient from Mansa to Lusaka for urgent, advanced medical treatment.

The mission was authorized after Mansa General Hospital requested the aeromedical transfer.

In a letter to the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary – Technical Services dated September 6, 2025, Mansa General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Mackford Chipili appealed for the immediate airlifting of the patient, who needed specialized care beyond the hospital's capabilities.

The 48-year-old patient had been hospitalized for eight days prior to the evacuation.The ZFDS responded promptly, deploying its aeromedical team to facilitate the transfer.

The patient is now admitted to University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, where they are underging further examinations and receive advanced management.
