The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) continues to bring essential and specialized healthcare closer to communities in Katimba and Moomba, Monze District, following the commencement of its outreach programme last week.

Since the outreach began, the multidisciplinary ZFDS team, led by Dr Dawin Chishimba, has continued to work alongside local health facilities to provide a range of essential healthcare services to communities facing geographical barriers to accessing care.

The team continues to provide dental services by Newton Chisenga, eye services by Mwenya Musonda, laboratory testing by Stembile Zikhali, and pharmacy services by Nebert Mumba, ensuring that communities can access multiple services closer to home.

The ongoing outreach has also been strengthened by the provision of specialized medical and surgical services at Mulumbwa Mini Hospital, led by Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr Musonda Mutale, working alongside Anaesthetist Kemeya Punga and local healthcare professionals.

To date, several procedures have been successfully performed, including lipoma removals, bilateral tubal ligations (BTLs), tumour resections and other surgical procedures, enabling patients to receive specialized care closer to their communities.

As the outreach continues, ZFDS remains committed to working with local health facilities to expand access to quality healthcare and ensure that communities in hard-to-reach areas are not left behind.

From primary healthcare and diagnostic services to specialized medical and surgical care, ZFDS continues to take healthcare closer to the people ,one community at a time.
