As part of its continued efforts to build strong and strategic partnerships that enhance healthcare access, the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) was delighted to welcome Dr. MD Sharma, Manager – Medical Services, Mopani Copper Mines, and Dr. Boniface Zulu, Medical Superintendent, Wusakile Mine Hospital, to ZFDS.

The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Tendai Mweemba, Acting Director – Medical Services, ZFDS, together with Senior Business Development Officer, Mrs. Tabitha M. Banda, Chief Pilot Col.Zacharia Mbewe and the ZFDS team.

The engagement provided an opportunity for ZFDS and Mopani Copper Mines to explore practical areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening emergency medical support, patient transfers, referrals, air ambulance services, and coordinated healthcare services for employees served by Mopani.

A key outcome of the engagement was the agreement to further develop a collaboration framework between ZFDS and Mopani Copper Mines, with the two institutions set to engage further on specific areas of partnership and implementation modalities.

The proposed collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and facilitating timely access to appropriate medical services when and where they are needed.
