Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) team sent to Sikongo paid a courtesy call on the Sikongo Council informing them of their presence and mission in the district.

The team, led by Dr. Lucas Tembo comprises specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesia, optometry, dental therapy, pharmacy, and laboratory technology.

The Sikongo District Health Planning Director (DHPD) Mr. Choolwe Masaninga  and District Health Director (DHD) Dr. Lisulo Kennedy welcomed the team, expressing gratitude for the specialized services, particularly eye, dental, obstetric, and gynecology care, which are lacking in some of the facilities.

The team will provide free medical services at various facilities in the district, including:

- Sikongo Mini Hospital: Tuesday

- Lueti Rural Health Center: Wednesday

- Mabua and Sikushi Health Post: Thursday

- Lulanguni Rural Health Center: Friday

- Luahumba Rural Health Post: Saturday

- Ituuwa Rural Health Center: Sunday

- Luimena Rural Health Center: Monday

Meanwhile, the Surgeon and Anaesthetists will be stationed at Uka Mission Hospital in Kalabo District. The outreach program will run until February 17th, 2025.
