Today, 7th May 2026, the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) successfully coordinated a double air and land repatriation for patients discharged from the International Hospital of Zambia in Lusaka.
Aircraft 9J-AGC, piloted by Siphosami Zulu with co-pilot Chanda Mumpangwe, departed ZUZE at 08:02 hours and arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) at 09:02 hours. Upon arrival, the ambulance was already on standby to facilitate the transfer of the patients to the medical team for onward repatriation to Livingstone and Mufulira.
After the patients were safely boarded, paramedics Suzan Banda and Paul Siame monitored them throughout the flight to ensure they remained stable and comfortable. The aircraft departed KKIA at 09:36 hours and arrived at Harry Mwanga Nkumbula Airport in Livingstone at 11:10 hours, where one patient was successfully handed over to awaiting family members.
The aircraft later arrived back at ZUZE Base at 14:00 hours. Upon arrival, a ZFDS ambulance driven by Kendrick Simfukwe was on standby to continue the repatriation by road to Mufulira. Paramedic Prince Mwewa accompanied the patient during the road transfer, ensuring continuous monitoring and care throughout the journey.
The operation was completed safely through the coordinated efforts of the flight crew, paramedics, and ground teams involved in both the air and road transfers.
