The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) has successfully facilitated the home repatriation of a patient living with pneumoconiosis from Fairview Hospital in Lusaka to Mufulira.
The patient, who is oxygen-dependent, was safely transported under continuous medical supervision, with oxygen therapy provided throughout the flight to ensure a safe and stable transfer.
The mission was undertaken following a request from the Workers’ Compensation.The aircraft was operated by Captain Siphosami Zulu and Captain Chanda Mumpangwe, while Paramedics Susan Banda and Mwiza Siloka provided specialised medical care during the evacuation.
ZFDS remains committed to delivering timely and reliable aeromedical evacuation services, bridging geographical barriers and ensuring patients can safely return home or access specialised medical care when needed.
