The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) has successfully concluded a seven-day specialised medical outreach programme in Monze District, taking essential and specialised healthcare services directly to communities that face geographical barriers to accessing care.

Led by Dr Dawin Sichimba, the ZFDS team moved across health centres throughout the week, bringing medical consultations, laboratory services, pharmacy, eye care, dental services and surgical interventions closer to patients in their communities.

The outreach also provided an opportunity for patients requiring specialised attention to receive appropriate care closer to home, while strengthening the capacity of local health facilities through collaboration with healthcare workers on the ground.

The programme concluded at Njolamwanza Rural Health Centre, marking another successful ZFDS intervention in taking healthcare beyond conventional hospital settings and into communities where it is needed most.

Through its continued outreach programmes, ZFDS remains committed to reducing geographical barriers to healthcare and ensuring that distance does not stand between communities and the specialised care they need.
