The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) has been commended for extending its cholera prevention and sensitisation campaign to Lumpuma Day Secondary School in rural Lufwanyama District on the Copperbelt Province.
As part of the initiative, ZFDS distributed hygiene kits donated by Children International Zambia to support cholera prevention efforts and sensitised learners on the importance of proper hygiene and sanitation in preventing the spread of cholera.
School Headteacher, Justine Bwalya, commended ZFDS for remembering the school and extending the campaign to rural communities, noting that the initiative would contribute to strengthening cholera prevention efforts.
Meanwhile, Chief Lumpuma of the Lamba-speaking people, through his retainer, Benard Kalepa, welcomed the outreach, observing that taking cholera sensitisation to rural schools would help spread awareness quickly as learners share the knowledge acquired with their families and communities.
The Ministry of Health through ZFDS remains committed to supporting public health initiatives through community sensitisation, disease prevention and the promotion of good hygiene practices to protect lives.
